Martha Place, located at 96 Patterson Drive in Hillsborough Park, opened to tenants in the Spring of 2021. The Sisters of St. Martha, who partnered with federal, provincial and municipal governments along with Kings Square Affordable Housing Corporation in the construction of the building have been recognized in the naming of the building for the service they have given to the people of Prince Edward Island.

Of the 60 units in the four storey building, 50 are affordable units of one, two and three bedroom apartments, 18 of which are accessible. During their 105 year history the Sisters have always sought to meet the signs of the times, of which decent affordable  housing is now a critical issue. We are delighted that the people have a beautiful place to call home that they can afford.

The Living Well

The name for The Living Well was inspired by a reflection on the bible passage from the story of the Samaritan woman found in the gospel of John Chapter 4:13-15, which reads: Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty.”

It is our hope that all who come to The Living Well will have this experience of new life springing up within them.

Located on the first floor of Martha Place you will find The Living Well the Sisters’ newest project.

The well, constructed onsite by mason, Jake Fonesca, is built from Island stone. A brick from Mount St. Mary’s, the former motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Martha, was broken into two pieces and inserted at top left of the well.
